Together we are family build a page

I love paper. 

At times I am torn with a paper because I love both sides. So here is my tip on how to get the best of both sides of a paper. 

To take advantage of both sides for my layout I fussy cut the border of the MME paper. 

I then fussy cut the title of the border. 

I love adding texture to a page. But I did not have a stencil. I decided to make my own. Using my circle punch a cut the plastic from the stamp set. I have a binder for my stamps and I am in love with this set so into the binder it will go. 

Using my Dreamweaver paste with a gift card gently went over the punched out circle. I let the paste dry. 

Then using my color spray sprinkled my white cardstock that will be my base. Pam has a great selection of Lindys stamp gang mist set in the add on section. 

I then cut rectangle pieces from side B of the MME paper and distressed them. 

I always like to place my pictures and pieces on my layout as I work but only glue everything at the end. This way I can judge size and placing. I matted my picture against black paper.  

I adore the MME stamp set that came with this kit. I decided to create layered jars. I stamped the image four times. 

I fussy cut the jars and then layered the pattern paper over the white cardstock. 

Realizing how much this was an awesome stamp step decided I needed to add some background stamping. 

The layered brad was awesome but there was only one. So I decided to cut it up and ink the edges black. 

Now I am happy with my layout and glue everything into place

Around my picture I am adding brads and buttons included in the kit. Voila all done.

Here is your moment to shine

It has been some time since I've posted and well it has been some time since I have scrapped. Around the time of my last blog post,  we just purchased our new home. So packing up the old place and moving to a new city, getting two kids ready for school and the implementation of a new system at work, I've been busy. Starting to settle in to our new home,  I unpacked my scrapbooking supplies last week. I also need to start getting ready for my weekend retreat with SGD! My plan is to make kits for the SGD retreat, and get the kids school books done. I fell in love with MME Chalk Studio! Perfect to create the kids school albums! What I love the most about the MME lines are the colours and the sayings found on the Chalk Studio. Here is a page I completed using the MME sketch as inspiration to capture Sophie's first day of school. I flipped the picture on the sketch and added the journalling at the bottom. 

I used three different collections for this page, Chalk Studio, Stella Rose & Collections. The brads are MME, the butterflies are from Studio Calico along with the mask used, tickets and pearl beads are left overs from my stash.  

I did some masking with Mr Hue spray and gold glimmer mist. Distressing with my zutter and tried to emboss my inked butterflies (this did not work for me so much but I tried). Sophie loves bright colors mostly pink so mixing the various collections worked well for me. 

Sophie starting grade one has been a big change for our family. She's a big girl now. And I have to let go a little trust that she will apply what I've taught her. She will always be my baby girl.

MME challege!

Off to play with the kids! Hope you are enjoying the afternoon! On the MME blog the challenge is to use The challenge is simple: use "masculine" colors or embellishments on a girl page, or use "feminine" colors and accents on a boy page. Therefore, I chose a picture of my daughter and using Kraft card stock used MME blue and yellow colored paper for my layout. I added banners/buttons and tried to stick to hard edges for this layout. I also inked all my corners with black ink to give it more of a bold look. The page layout was inspired by one of Alda's mojo Monday's sketch at the Flying Unicorn! I also added some hidden journaling

Bright Smile Sketch 200

It has taken me a very long time to realize that sketches are bases and sources of inspiration. I love sketches as they give me great direction. I am weeks behind in blogging and scrapping as the last month has been full of changes. I got a new job which I love and it has been keeping me soooo busy! Sadly Charlie was hospitalized for a few days for pneumonia and a few weeks later I came down with it too! Nothing like starting a new job and getting sick! lol. So I've got lots of catching up to do. So here is my interpretation of Sketch 200. 

I decided to use three smaller pictures than the the two prescribed in the sketch. All the paper is MME and Bazzill card stock. I did come fussy cutting and distressing. My inspiration for using these papers was from C.S.I
