My last post of the year

Michelle, a set on Flickr.
Happy New Year my friends! This is my last post of 2011 and it has been a great year creatively! I would like to dedicate my last post to my scrappy sweets Michelle! In our home she is known as my scrappy wife! I met Michelle through the Let's Scrap site that I was a DT for from August to November. We started up in the introduce yourself discussion and we've been crafty BFF's ever since! We live hours apart but have taken up a card swap! And today I am showcasing some of my dear friends work! Leave her some scrappy love as I think she should start her own blog to show off her amazing talent! Michelle has been an amazing gift to me all around and I hope in this New Year, you my fellow bloggers are as lucky as I to meet a new friend that has inspired me, picked me up and warmed my heart! She is more than just a crafty friend... I love her like a sister :) She is good for my soul! MUAH XOXO

All the best in the New Year!

School's In!

I discovered Miss Arts when I was perusing Sarah Webb’s blog, and came across the Miss Art’s Blinkie. I clicked and my world forever changed! As most of you know I am a busy lady! I work full time out of the home, married with three young children all under the age of 4! and I am addicted to scrapbooking/card making! Actually, scrapbooking and I just celebrated our two year anniversary together!
Since started scrapbooking I’ve always tried picking up things here and there. But let’s face it there are so many magazine’s, blogs, you tube video’s out there that at times it seems a little over whelming! You never know what you are going to get! What I love about Miss Arts classes is you know what you are going to get! Not only do you get the class description, products used,  you also get a brief video. I think this is perfect! As at times I’ve taken a look at the description and sat there and though uhhhh I don’t know...but see the video and well I then have to see what it is all about. I also love the format of the class, the format is for all learning types! I like how it alternates with videos, pictures and text. the broken video segments are great for me as most of the time I don’t have time to sit through an hour of tutorials but the manner in which the video’s are broken up are perfect.  I love the variety of the classes and teachers! They all compliment each other! As an example, the Simply Stylish Lesson 3 talks about misting which is fabulous but there is also the Demystifying Mist class which the various techniques are amazing and completely different!
Finding this site has been great! Everything is in one spot! I would love to see Miss Art add classes/tutorials on photography or photo enhancement. A class on tips for storage and organizing. A Copic, class/tutorial would be awesome!!!
What I especially enjoyed and not expected is the detail of the classes and teachers. I have come across a few sites that say they will teach you the tricks of the trade but in the end don’t tell you too much. Not at Miss Art’s! These ladies are here to help you grow your craft! You can find this in their pledge to you as a student!

Traditions, a set on Flickr.
Dave and I have always tried to get family pictures done before Christmas. With three so young you can image how difficult it can be. But Barb and Cherie captured them beautifully. I decided to use a sketch from Creative Sketches #186 to show case the fabulous picture! I actually only used cardstock. Made the flowers and the title using my CTMH cartridge.

Scrap That December Sketch Challenge

Today I have a sketch from the very talented Robin at Scrap That.
Here is our latest family picture taken by a very talented lady Barb Weir. I used some Pion paer, prima flowers, bling, Tim Holtz ink, Prima letters. I did some background stamping, made my own flowers to add and used most of all the goodies in my Scrap That Kit.

Thanks a latte!! Yummy

It has been a crazy week for me. I am not getting much scrapping done and today well let's just say was one of those days. A few nights ago I decided to color in my favorite Kraftin Kimmie Stamp. The weekly challenge was to create something you are thankful for...for me and this is serious! I am thankful for my morning coffee!!! Let me tell you about my day! Things were going pretty good, dropped my daughter off at school, made it to work in good time to finish up my year end review. Reach for my coffee which my dear husband made for me ( I love it when he makes the coffee) and realized it was in the van (which is parked at the end of the lot). Grab my sweater and sprint out to the van to find out that it will not open??? The Fob is not working?? Now it just so happens I had my husbands fob also and it didn't work either! So if they are both not working what are the chances that it is something electrical?!?! Go back in call the dealership who help me figure out there is a hidden key in it...!! I don't know what was more exciting being able to get into the van or getting my coffee!!! lol The day was just as crazy with getting the car fixed, completing reviews and just everyday life. So I was Thankful for my husband's great coffee that I left in the van that led me to discover sooner rather than at 430 there was something wrong with the van! I would have died if I would have discovered this at the end of the day, knowing my daughter was waiting for would have killed me! So tonight decided to take some me time and make this card! The layout is based on the sketch from CPS -Card Sketches and the color's from the Scrap That card/tag challenge and here we have it! I used Simple Stories Paper and for the moment can't tell you the Copics I used, glue dots, diamond Stickles.
Thanks for stopping by! Have a great Friday!

Bobunny Challenge ~ Last Let's Scrap DT reveal

DSC08399 (1280x661) by lynnshaffer7
This is my last week as DT for Let's Scrap! I loved my time as DT but looking forward to seeing what the new team has in store for us! Life has been crazy, busy and stressful the last couple of weeks and sadly could not focus as much as I would have loved to. However, I did decide to incorpoarte my last DT design with a BoBunny Challenge. I think the difficulty I have when it comes to two page sketches is using more than one photo. I get so wrapped up in the creative process that I often only focus on one picture. Which leaves me with my other problem! Journalling! Again I get so wrapped up in the creative part that I don't journal on the page. Instead  most times I attach a picture to the back of my page with my journalling. So this weeks sketch for Let's Scrap and BoBunny Challenge of journal a week of your life was perfect. Using the new Enchanted Line I Journaled my week and the space for pictures were used as Journal spots. I think I will continue with this as I have kept a journal of the kids since they were little and I have odds and ends of things said here and there that I would like to put in. I LOVE the way this challenge and sketch came together for me!

Here are all my journalling squares of my week.
I added Prima Flowers, made the black flower and added some Viva Decor pearls.

Remember this ---- Pencil Lines Sketch 258

I started to work with this sketch weeks ago...but as always life gets in the way! The picture used is one taken of my daddy and I in the fall of 1979. I used one of my many favorite BoBunny Paper lines for this page. As I love the rich colors. I really need to invest in a new journalling pen or a better way to display my journalling as I have included some on the blue strip below the picture. For the life of me I can't remember what company created the button and twine embelishements but they are fabulous. Used my new cricut to cut out small leaves to add to the mix. The fabulous sketch is from Pencil Lines.

Happy Birthday Naveah ~ Elmo loves you

Two weeks ago Dave, the kids and I were invited to Naveah's first birthday party! I can't remember the last time I have actually bought a card! I was very happy however, that I made this cute elmo card for Naveah. I used various plain colored cardstock and put to good use my Seasame Street Cricut Cartridge. I used some of the kids extra craft supplies for the nose and eyes to pop out. Then added the glitter glue to the letter N to make it pop some more!

The last couple of weeks have been crazy! And I finally have some time to post quickly today. I love! love! love! Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection. I decided to use the last of my collection to play along with the girls at Stuck On U Sketches. I love the sketch and how it gave me the chance to incorporate pieces made with my new tools! I got a new Cricut! and a new Prima distressing Tool!!!!! What a good way to end the day! I am still working on using more than one photo per layout. I don't know why I have such difficulty with this??? But here is another attempt. The first picture to the left is one of my sister and I back in 1984 before a Christmas Party and the photo on the right is that of my sister and I again in 2006 at my wedding. I did a lot of layering and distressing. I also inked the edges with a bonus ink I received from last week SGD sale! Now what I have really realized is that I definitely need a better camera! Maybe Santa will bring me one for Christmas!

An Angel to color

Still trying to get my practice when coloring! Decided to try this great Kraftin' Kimmie stamp. Using Bobunny paper and my favorite scrip stamp colored this lovely lady and added stickles to give her hair the shine.

Oh Baby

I have discovered that I love to color. I find it very calming. I had tried to scrapbook for an hour each night instead of watching T.V like a friend suggested but I made too much of a mess. So I am now coloring and I LOVE IT. I also love the Kraftin Kimmie stamps because they reflect each of my personality. Although I wish I had their bodies but I love the stamp. Working with my BoBunny paper I stamped the back paper with a script stamp and colored this sexy lady in.

Last year a select few people received a home made Christmas card and I was pretty proud of them! The response I got was amazing so this year I decided to make my own cards for everyone. OMG I counted and so far I need about 75 cards! Yikes! Thanks to CPS sketch I think I found the style I am going for! I am waiting to get a Christmas sentiment stamp but I love the look of this card. I used my Midnight frost from Bobunny, inked my edges with Tim Holtz and stamped scripted text and used Viva pearl. a few foam dots and voila! Thanks for stopping by!

Delight in the little things~ November Kit

Delightinthelittlethings by lynnshaffer7
Delightinthelittlethings, a photo by lynnshaffer7 on Flickr.

Best way to spend the day is with Lori and Sheila at the SGD crop! Watching these two ladies really gets my creative mojo going! Now I have to say I was sooo excited to get to the crop that I forgot to bring my paper matched to my pictures. Thank God I was at a scrapbooking store in which I could buy anything my little heart desired but Lori and Sheila took pity on me (uh...that or the fact that I was hovering over them...until they let me have my kit!!!) he he he.... Oh I was in heaven! There is so many wonderful goodies in this kit!!!! The colors FANTASTIC! So here is a picture of my Casey on the hottest day this past winter with his hat on!  Just a quick post tomorrow is Monday and back to work I go! I work to support my scrapbooking habit! LMAO!
